April 2025
Part self-check-in, part style reset. Olsen twins edition.
Welcome back!
This is a weird time of year (is it real Spring this time?), and I’m feeling weird too—maybe a little burnt out? Transition seasons are normally a playful time. You can layer on lighter things instead of shouldering a coat, and pair heavier pants with daintier shoes. I usually love it. But right now, I just feel like I can’t get it right. I’m stuck. It happens.
That probably explains why I’ve been shopping more than usual - never the best way to handle stuck-ness. So this month I’m getting back in touch with what I already own. For me, that means diving into outfits from my all-time style icons: the Olsen twins. Vogue regularly posts about recreating their looks, and I never get tired of it.
Their style has always felt like a north star to me: unfussy, not overly feminine, and approachable outfit components. I’m not chasing exact replicas so much as using their looks to take stock of where my own style is at. What feels right? What’s not clicking? What still makes me excited to get dressed? I am a separates dresser meaning that a knit or button-down plus pants is my ideal outfit, so I’m starting there.
Outfit 1

This outfit is so simple - sweater, jeans, flats. But the proportions are off for me. I love these items, but not together. I lean towards monochromatic styling for this sweater.

Outfit 2

This outfit looks fancy but it’s so comfortable. I want to wear this. The skirt is actually a silk slip dress I have from 10 years ago that never gets worn, but is too special to get rid of.

Outfit 3

Again such a simple combination, and I usually wear a version of this outfit during the summer, but it’s not feeling quite right to me now.

Outfit 4

This outfit is still very me. I love a big shirt, and I love the messiness of the shirt against the structure of the pants. No notes!
So that’s where I’m at. A little stuck, a little re-centered, and still figuring it out one outfit at a time. Anti-climactic? Maybe, but it’s a process.
And with that, let’s take a look back at March.
What I Bought Last Month

Another month of great finds on TheRealReal. I have the matching pants for this Toteme top and am glad to now have the set. I tried on this Toteme tank a few months ago and was surprised by how flattering the fit was but more shocked by the sticker price. I scooped it up on TheRealReal for $67. This Prada dress has been on my wishlist for a while now and I plan to wear it to a few events this Summer.
