A study in skirts—fall outfits inspired by Miuccia Prada styled with secondhand treasures
Welcome back! Earlier this year I did a styling exercise inspired by the Olsen twins to explore how I was feeling about my wardrobe. Analyzing my data always reveals something new, but sometimes the real clarity comes from wearing things differently and testing out what feels right.
Lately, I’ve found myself reaching for skirts again. Following that instinct, I looked to the queen of skirts herself—Miuccia Prada—for fall inspiration and recreated a few of her looks.
On of my favorite quotes of Miuccia’s (and believe me, there are many) comes from her 2024 Vogue profile.
“It’s strange, because every single morning I have to decide if I am a 15-year-old girl or an old lady near to death.”
Aren’t we all asking ourselves a version of this question? So let’s get into it.

Oh man, I love a sweater a skirt combo. This feels “me” and it’s very wearable. I’ll most likely swap heels for ballet flats (or my beloved Tory Burch violet flats) during the day.

A remix of the same Prada pleated skirt as the first look, but paired with a silk shirt and cable knit sweater. I love how Miuccia wraps knitwear and scarves around her shoulders, e.g. her styling from the Spring 2026 runway.

It was fun to wear these snake heels (from 2015!) after they’ve been sitting in my closet, but realistically I’m wearing this look with loafers for daytime comfort. This look is so neutral and can easily pair with a trench, a fun bag, and jewelry—it’s the perfect base to play around with.

Miuccia’s look has a crop top, fringe, and beads but my version keeps the top cozy and the sparkle around the ankles. I love it, no notes!

Miuccia regularly wears tights with sandals, which is a great way to keep wearing the shoes you love as the temperature dips. This shirtdress is very summer-y, but that makes it easy to layer with a heavier sweater and jacket. I’ve been considering selling this dress for a while, but wearing it again made me reconsider it.

No big epiphany, but I had a lot of fun playing with new styling and rediscovered some items that have been gathering dust. Some days the answers come from my spreadsheets, other days from my closet. Lately, it’s the skirts doing the talking.
And with that, let’s take a look back at September.
What I Bought Last Month

I tried this Toteme blazer on (new with tags!) at TheRealReal in SoHo months ago but didn’t buy it until it was heavily discounted. It’s oversized and lightweight—the perfect layer when you don’t want to wear a real coat yet. This E.L.V. Denim x The Outnet hand-stitched silk ivory shirt was a gem of a find—I literally cackled when I tried it on. It’s a giddy feeling finding something so special for under $50. I was inspired to buy it to recreate this Katie Holmes outfit that’s been haunting me for weeks.
What I Sold Last Month
Nothing, but I just dropped off a bag of things at TheRealReal.
Most Worn Items Last Month

Traveling last month really skewed the most-worn data, but knitwear and jackets are trickling in as the season changes.
See you next month!
